Cyber Crimes.
By: Hamza Zafar
Cyber-crime encompasses any criminal act dealing with computers and networks (called hacking). Additionally, cyber-crime also includes traditional crimes conducted through the Internet.
Reports of alleged computer crime have been a hot news item of late. Especially alarming is the realization that many of the masterminds behind these criminal acts are mere kids. In fact, children no longer need to be highly skilled in order to execute cyber-crimes.
"Hacker tools" are easily available on the Net and, once downloaded, can be used by even novice computer users. This greatly expands the population of possible wrongdoers. Children (and in some cases - their parents) often think that shutting down or defacing Web sites or releasing network viruses are amusing pranks.
Kids might not even realize that what they are doing is illegal. Still other kids might find themselves hanging out online with skilled hackers who share hacking tools with them and encourage them to do inappropriate things online.
Unfortunately, some of these kids don't realize that they are committing crimes until it is too late. Even more distressing and difficult to combat is the fact that some in the media portray the computer criminal as a modern day Robin Hood. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Types of cyber-crimes:
Hacking
The act of gaining unauthorized access to a computer system or network and in some cases making unauthorized use of this access. Hacking is also the act by which other forms of cyber-crime (e.g., fraud, terrorism, etc.) are committed. Hacking in simple terms means illegal intrusion into a computer system without the permission of the computer owner/user.
Software Piracy
Theft of software through the illegal copying of genuine programs or the counterfeiting and distribution of products intended to pass for the original. Retail revenue losses worldwide are ever increasing due to this crime. Can be done in various ways such as end user copying, hard disk loading, Counterfeiting, Illegal downloads from the internet etc.
Phishing
It is technique of pulling out confidential information from the bank/financial institutional account holders by deceptive means.

Our new house is haunted....
By Maria Zeeshan.
26th Oct, 2013.
Hi my name is Maria, I am 9 years old. I live with my mom, dad an my younger brother. The tale actually, began about 2 years back in Malawi in Central Africa the called town Pingwie, the Halloween time was near.
We were going to move our house, it’s was quite big and cheap I heard that place is not good, the family that live there left and they only lived there for 4 days which is weird, but my brother doesn’t like the house. He thinks the house is haunted which I think is not true! Haha…., he’s still 7 years, so how come he knows oh! Got to help my mom packs things up!. Well we just arrived to our new house were packing out the stuff which was quite heavy. So, we went inside the house. It was quite old fashioned but who cares, my mom said. “Go pick your own room”.
So My brother and I ran upstairs. We were pushing each other, but luckily no one was hurt. So, I found my little room. Actually I don’t need big room, the rooms were dirty. Afterwards, when I was cleaning the room, I felt like someone was in the door and watching me. I checked but there was no one and it was probably my little brother. I started to continue cleaning but then, I heard my brother screaming… But how can he go to the room so quickly. I ran over to that room so quickly. I ran over to that room, I saw him crying at the corner my dad and mom also came and asked said what had happened? He started to say, “When I was getting the toy from the cupboard, I couldn’t get it, so I climbed up the chair to get the toys but then the toys started to move to the corner. So I pulled my hand to get it but then someone pushed my chair and I fell over, but there was no one in the room. My mom blamed me for pushing him, I hadn’t. My mom thought I was lying. So then I went into my room thinking who could it be, it was a bit upset that there was someone in the house. May be I’m thinking too much, I thought to myself working.
So all that weird things started happening on & off. My mom made us dinner for hard work in celebration of our new house but suddenly the light turned off.
My dad thought it can happen cause this is an old house, so he went to check the power to on it again, After that the light turned back on but then my brother went missing so we all went to find him… it was a full moon night, Behind our house were hills and jungle. We started moving along the track with my dad and mom along. At about midnight, a cold wind started blowing n the top of the trees around our house.
A large black cloud crept over the moon and from the woods a voice of a barking dog sounded too horrifying, It was a dirt road about a half mile off the paved rural Highway. Nearby there was a graveyard, We walked till there and found out what the real matter was? We found my brother sitting near one grave and screaming and crying in a loud voice. Luckily we had found him! Then we took him home and my mom mad him sleep.
Next day, he explained the whole happening that the light went off someone dragged me off the chair. It was too dark to recognize who is it at fist. I thought it is was my sister Maria, But when I saw the moonlight I was near the woods and I saw a lady appear in old fashion clothes, a long face which began to ashen up and asked me to come with her. I was scared and then she disappeared and seen as a shadowy figure pass by. I tried to run away, But my feet got stuck in the woods and I started screaming and my food started bleeding badly. There was a grave where I was sitting,
Afterwards luckily you people came and found me. After listening to the story. I started believing in ghosts.
After two days, I also experienced something, in my room, I saw shadowy figures through my window to my mom’s & dad’s room windows pass by, I said to my mom and dad to move out of this house! Finally, within 10 days we found another house that was nice. It was situated on the hill side where all my school friends used to live and my school was also nearby.
I we were, still living in that house that spirit would have caused a some real problem. Perhaps my brother is more sensitive than me. These things don’t matter much to me that to my brother as he is more sensitive to mattes of the spirit world than I.
I have nothing to fear from. Now my brother, and enjoy our new house.

Mouldy Locks
By
Rayaan Aly Khan 3-P
Once upon a time there was a little girl called Lovely Locks who lived in a cottage by the edge of the forest. Lovely Locks was a very pretty girl with long brown hair. The only problem was that she was very nosy and curious about everything. But just, as she was about to do something wrong she would hear Mum’s voice and see her kind, loving face,
One day, Lovely Locks was playing in the garden and she thought to herself, “I wonder why Mum doesn’t like me to go into the forest?” So she opened the gate and went to find out. She could see Mum saying, “Stop!” but she ignored her. She walked and walked and soon she was lost. Suddenly she saw a cottage with a fence and a gate. “I wonder who lives here?” she said to herself.
She opened the gate and walked into the garden. She walked up to the door and knocked on it. No answer. “Lovely,” said Mum, “don’t do it.” So she tried the door and it opened immediately. Lovely Locks walked in and saw a perfect, cozy living room and a dining room as well. Something smelled delicious.
On the table she saw three bowls of porridge – a big bowl, a medium bowl and a small bowl. She could hear her mum, “No darling, please don’t.” Feeling very hungry, she tried the big bowl first. Ouch! It was too hot! Uh Oh! what was happening to her? Suddenly her nose grew long like Pinocchio. But she was still hungry, so she tried the medium bowl. So cold and lumpy – her head started to twitch and two little horns popped up. She felt strange but thought that it might be because she was so hungry. So she tried the small bowl and it was dee-lish-ous. She lapped up the whole bowl like a starved kitten. By now her cheeks had started to tingle, so she let them tingle, till she finished every little drop of porridge in her bowl. She touched her cheeks and she had grown whiskers. How strange.
But Miss Curious still had much more to discover than worry about a long nose, horns or hairy whiskers. So she set off towards the living room.
In the living room she saw three chairs – a big chair, a medium chair and a small chair. She saw Mum nodding her head ‘no’. First she tried the big chair and it made her tailbone burn. Suddenly she felt a rat’s tail shoot out of her bone so she jumped out of the big chair. Then she sat on the medium sized chair and her skin turned scaly like an ancient alligator! She was shocked and hoisted herself out of the chair. When she sat on the small chair she felt her chest pounding like a stampede of elephants being chased by hungry lions. She now had three hearts like an octopus.
So Lovely locks now had a very long nose, two horns like a goat, hairy whiskers, a rat’s tail, scaly skin and three hearts! Whatever next? But did you think that would stop Miss Nosy Parker? She had seen a set of stairs leading up and she needed to explore some more.
When she was upstairs she saw a bedroom with a sofa and three beds – a king sized bed, a queen sized bed and a single mattress on the floor. By then Lovely Locks was quite drowsy so she climbed onto the king sized bed. Mum was starting to look angry. It was so hard that her legs began to tremble and suddenly transformed into a horse’s hind quarters. So she clip clopped to the queen sized bed and galloped onto it. As she lay down she felt a fluttering in her shoulders. Her arms had disappeared and she had grown bat’s wings. She thought she must be looking like a Halloween Pegasus. As she got up, she started to fly so she flew to the single mattress. Her beautiful long brown hair fell out and in its place was horrible, swampy, stinky Mouldy Locks! “Oh, Mum, what have I done?” thought Lovely Locks.
What was going on? She ate the porridge and it gave her a long nose, horns and whiskers. She sat in the chairs and she grew a tail, scaly skin and three hearts. She tried the beds and they gave her horse legs, bats wings and disgusting Mouldy Locks! Was this her punishment for not minding her own business? Should she have listened to her mother? Was this just a horrible nightmare? “Lovely Locks, Oh Lovely Locks,” she heard her mother’s voice. She opened her eyes and saw her Mum with a smile on her face. She jumped up and ran to the mirror and she looked normal. It was a Halloween nightmare. But she promised herself that she would always listen to Mum and not let her curiosity get the best of her ever again.
Halloween Carniva By Ahmed Bilal 4-L
Friday the 1st of November began as a regular school day, but as the evening approached everything started to change. The ground at LPS was decorated with bats, witches hats, pumpkins, cobwebs and a lot of other Halloween art and craft work done by the students. In short it looked spooky. The students from UPS had set up game stalls with loads of prizes to be won. There were food stalls filled with delicious goods. The music selection was perfect to set the mood and take you on a scary journey. Everyone was dressed up in various costumes; it was hard to guess who was who. They best costume award went to a student from UPS who was dressed as a mummy. Mr. Richard spent half the evening getting drenched in water which came from the wet sponges thrown at him, as he volunteered at a game stall.
There was a raffle draw at the end of the evening in which many of us won gifts. There was a dance performance by the students of the upper primary section too. The highlight of the evening was the haunted house.
It was one day that the children wished the clocks would stop. Thanks to all the children, teachers and parents who help make the carnival possible and such a hit. It was a charitable event and the money collected through it will be used for a noble cause.
